The KidsArt Blog is an open forum on creative art activities for kids of all ages.  Please try the ideas presented here, using proper adult supervision for all activities with children.  KidsArt encourages child-centered, open-ended art activities…projects that introduce a new material or technique without a specific adult-driven goal.  It is up to the child to decide what sort of picture or sculpture or artwort they want to create.

Open ended art activities allow each child to direct their exploration. Photocopied adult made drawings, coloring pages, and paint by numbers are NOT open ended.  Prepackaged craft kits are generally not open ended.  But art materials such as paints, crayons, chalk, clay, glue, and paper can all be used in open ended activities…projects that encourage a child’s invntion, imagination and creativity.
