About KidsArt

KidsArt began back in the 1980’s when art teacher and stay-at-home mom Kim Solga began developing art curriculum for primary and elementary schools. By the 1990’s, the business expanded into a monthly newsletter bringing subscribers creative, hands-on kids art projects on a wide variety of topics.

The KidsArt newsletter soon turned into the KidsArt booklets, a series of 16 page teaching units designed to be photocopied easily for classroom and group use. The series was a best seller in the early homeschool community, and fit beautifully into the classrooms of busy teachers.

The classic KidsArt booklets are now being renewed in full-color digital format! You can view our first title – the KidsArt Audubon for Kids book. This 14 page teaching unit is filled with Audubon stories, paintings and art activities for kids. Purchase for $3.99 and download on Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/listing/4436248947/kidsart-audubon-for-kids

Kim is also the author of many books about hands-on art experiences for kids. Two titles in particular are classics in art education and can be ordered from booksellers everywhere. (Note: the projects here on kidsart.com are not taken rfom these great books. If you enjoy what you see here, getting these books will bring you many more new and excellent art teaching projects.)

Use google or your favorite search process to locate Discovering Great Artists and Great American Artists for Kids on-line. The books, by Kim Solga and Maryanne Kohl, sell for $16.99-$22.99 depending on the bookseller.

The kidsart.com website was a complete art teaching supply source for three decades, selling not only the teaching books, but a wide selection of child-safe
paints, colored pencils and markers, papers, art kits, how-to-draw books, and lots more.

Today, in 2026, all these supplies are found easily on the larger ecommerce sites, and we’ve taken a step back to the joy of simply sharing great art ideas. We hope you enjoy our philosophy, activities and resources… and we invite you to send us ideas and requests. KidsArt can be reached at PO Box 274, Mt. Shasta CA 96067 USA or via email at service@kidsart.com.
