Art that combines two or more methods is called mixed media. This project mixes…
- Cutting paper and gluing it into place
- Painting outlines and shapes
- Drawing stripes on the sails

The cut paper pieces make the yellow boats and the white sails. Yellow square shapes also create windows on the distant buildings.
Paint does the rest of the work. Black paint outlines the land and the buildings. Blue and red and orange make the ocean. Dark blue fills in the buildings. Bright white paint creates clouds in the sky and whitecaps on the waves.
The artist even used a third art material, drawing stripes on the sails with marker pen.
The different materials work together to create a bright and exciting piece of art.
